OpenAI has announced plans to expand ChatGPT well beyond a conversational assistant, integrating payments, scheduling, and enterprise workflow tools directly into the platform — a move that positions it to compete with the everyday, all-in-one "superapps" that dominate several Asian markets.
Rather than users leaving ChatGPT to book a service, make a payment, or manage a calendar, the plan is to let those actions happen natively within the conversation — turning the assistant into a layer that sits on top of, and coordinates between, the services people already use.
Reportedly coming are native payment processing for purchases and subscriptions initiated through conversation, integrated scheduling and calendar management across connected tools, and enterprise workflow modules aimed at replacing point-solution SaaS tools with a single AI-driven interface.
If OpenAI succeeds in embedding transactions and workflows directly into ChatGPT, it changes where businesses need to show up to reach customers — shifting influence away from individual apps and websites and toward whichever AI layer mediates the interaction.
